Law Day Run

More than 20 Soloway Wright staff and lawyers braved single-digit temperatures and overcast skies at the Ottawa Law Day Run on April 26th, 2013. We joined the hundreds of legal assistants, clerks, lawyers, articling students, and law students who ran or walked a 5 km course set up by organizers along the Rideau Canal. Proceeds of the event benefited the non-custodial parents program of Family Services Ottawa.

We were once again incredibly proud of our own Liz Maguire, who was the top female in the race and placed third overall. Liz posted an amazing time of approximately 18:30, before leaving the finish line at City Hall with fellow Soloway Wright race veteran/glutton-for-punishment, Neale Chisnall, to... go for a run. The rest of us commended them for their spirit, but decided we had done enough to earn our complimentary granola bar and an afternoon working in jogging pants and sweatshirts.

This was the 18th annual Law Day Run, and the second straight in which the Soloway Wright team has sported custom racing shirts coordinated by all-star organizer/motivator, Clare Warren. This year’s shirts were in the firm’s new colours and featured the silhouettes of a man and a woman running, dressed in suits and brief case in hand. The logo, inspired by the training regimen of our partner-participants, Peter Hagen and Ursula Melinz, clinched the Soloway Wright’s team unofficial yet incontrovertible victory as “Best Dressed”.

Soloway Wright was delighted to be a sponsor of this wonderful event again this year. We’re all looking forward to coming back next April!
